PLAYFULL AND LEARNING COMMUNICATION MEDIA BY THE PENGUINS IN COPENHAGEN ZOO

Copenhagen ZOO wants to increase the interest and understanding of nature and its diversity to both large and small, tourists and national guests through relevant and activating dissemination as well as entertaining discoveries. A StoryTeller contributes to this dissemination at the penguin facility, where the characteristic Humboldt penguins have their home.

“It is expected that the StoryTeller will make the information accessible to everyone in a different way, so that we reach more guests and that it will be a good complement to the other installations, classic signs, and exhibitions in the garden.”

- Louise Nordbjerg, Head of Communication and Education at Copenhagen ZOO.

The design of ZOO's StoryTeller is also carefully adapted to the garden's visual identity.

EXPERIENCES FOR EVERYONE

StoryTeller is an interactive, self-sufficient solution that makes it possible to communicate across both age group and language. In this way, the learning and knowledge that is conveyed is accessible to all the garden's guests.

StoryTeller is a communication tool that can be both playful and learning. It speaks very much to the idea that guests should have the opportunity to go exploring - you discover something new about the penguins when you turn the handle.

- Louise Nordbjerg

StoryTeller is self-sufficient in energy. It is the guests who themselves create the power to hear the speak when they turn the crank. This means that StoryTeller is not dependent on cables or wires and can be placed almost anywhere. Director of EnergiLeg Sofie Halkjær presents ZOO's StoryTeller in the video below.
